CEBU CITY – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) in Region 7 (Central Visayas) kicked off its 2019 Regional Skills Competition on Wednesday
TESDA-7 Regional Training Center administrator Winefredo Salas said the competition serves as a venue for recognizing the world-class competencies of young industry-skilled workers and graduates of technical-vocational schools and training institutions in Central Visayas.
“One of our objectives is to give due recognition to brilliant young skilled workers in the region as well as to give them the chance to compete in the international arena,” Salas told the Philippine News Agency.
Informatics Consolacion Senior High School student Joshua Del Campo, of Grade 12 Galileo Galilei Computer System Servicing Programming Day Class, made the school proud by winning the Silver Award at the TESDA Region 7 Regional Skills Competition in Web Design and Development held at the TESDA Regional last April 10 to 12, 2019.
Winners in the regionals will advance to the Visayas-Mindanao Zonal eliminations, where they will vie for a slot in the national finals. National winners will represent the Philippines in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) competition slated next year in Singapore.
Trade areas to compete this year are Automotive Technology, Cooking, Electrical Installation Technology, Electronics, Fashion Technology, Graphic Design, Information Network Cabling, Internet of Things, Information Technology (IT) Network System Administration, IT Software Solutions for Business, Mechatronics, Refrigeration and Air-conditioning, Web Design and Development, Welding Technology, and Restaurant Service.
